Huge orders were placed in South Korea this week with more in the pipeline. Contracts were signed in Korea under Qatar’s massive gas tanker programme. Another deal was reported for gas carriers in Korea worth US$632 million. Talks about a billion dollar container ship deal for Europe are also being held by Korean yards. Chinese orders included container ships and bulk carriers. In Europe, a research ship worth 69.6 million euros was contracted. In the naval sector, a US$540 million destroyer order was also placed in Asia.
