EDITORIAL NO 036 | 2019

Newbuilding activity was more active this week with large orders for bulk carriers placed in China. The continuing move towards liquefied natural gas (LNG) to protect the environment helped generate orders for gas carriers in South Korea. Korea also won substantial tanker orders. Ferry orders were also active. The naval sector included new developments to build frigates for the U.S. Navy and patrol vessels for the Philippines. Efforts continue to rescue yards in Croatia and Britain with state aid, until now the European Union has not taken action.
