The coronavirus crisis continued to depress world shipbuilding but with a series of new contracts reported in Asia. Japanese yards won deals for container ships and a gas tanker. China won orders including bulk carriers and a multi-purpose vessel. South Korea won petrochemical tanker and tanker orders. Australia said it has cancelled plans to order two large passenger RoRo ferries in Finland and will instead look into ordering the vessels in Australia to help the country’s economy overcome the coronavirus crisis.
