EDITORIAL NO 029 | 2021

South Korean yards continued their recent order success this week, with contracts including liquefied natural gas carriers. Chinese yards won a large container ship deal while Japanese yards won orders including bulk carriers. An Asian shipowner is also considering a large container ship order. Russia won a US$250 million deal to construct dual-fuelled icebreakers. South Korea's three largest shipbuilders are expected to continue the strong increase in new order intake in the second half of this year especially as a huge contract is expected from the Middle East.
