South Korean yards had a good week, with new business reported for container ships for Asia and Europe along with contracts including product carriers and methanol carriers. Chinese yards continued their recent success this week, winning orders including several bulk carrier and product carrier deals while a contract is close for gas carriers and tankers. An unusual freighter with low emissions for shallow water river sailings has been ordered in Europe for charter to a commodity trading house. The naval sector saw orders worth up to US$3.6 billion for the U.S. Navy.
