Newbuilding orders remained active in Asia this week. China booked large contracts including container ships, LPG carriers and a big LNG bunker vessel. South Korea won a US$330 million order from Europe for a wind farm ship. Korean and Singapore yards won offshore business from South America. A major icebreaker deal was awarded in Canada. Projects for environmentally friendly port ferries continued to be generated in Europe. In Europe, one Government called for consolidation of the naval shipyard sector, including more yard mergers.
