The new year started with more contracts for LNG carriers following the order surge in 2022. A Chinese yard has expanded into LNG carriers with a Danish order. Other Chinese deals included a floating LNG production vessel for Africa and oil tankers for Europe. South Korea won a US$1.58 billion contract for a floating liquified natural gas production plant. A European country will provide 62 million euros of finance to support construction of three 110m-long LNG bunkering vessels in a home yard. A Turkish yard is set to win a contract for a ferry. In the naval sector, a 280 million euro naval vessel order was awarded to a European yard after an EU tender.
