A mix of orders were reported by Asian yards this week. South Korea won contracts for gas carriers and also a multi-billion deal for vessel sections. China won contracts for container ships and tankers. New crewless offshore support vessels were ordered in Europe. A tender to build an icebreaker was issued in Russia. The British Government announced 13 more frigates will be ordered for the British navy along with supply vessels as part of an increase in defence spending to help the country’s economy recover from the present crisis.
