Environmentally friendly shipping continued to be a major theme in orders this week. Poland won an order for a hybrid-battery powered ferry from Finland. A yard in Italy won a contract for bunkering vessel for liquefied natural gas (LNG). Major naval orders were also reported including an initial deal for corvettes in South Korea and a multipurpose ship in Ecuador. British yards hope a new tender will be issued to build naval supply ships without foreign yards being involved. In the merchant sector, a large VLCC order is looming in China.
