Chinese yards once again dominated new shipbuilding orders this week. Among the Chinese deals were methanol-ready bulk carriers, container ships, chemical tankers to be capable of zero-emissions, and product carriers. A new report estimates Chinese yards won 82% of the total orders for large merchant ships placed worldwide in August this year. But South Korean yards are still hunting hard for LNG carrier orders, and a new deal worth USD 10 billion could be won in the coming months. Dutch yards had a good week with contracts for freighters for Turkey and Dutch customers, along with an inland waterways' vessel for South America.
