It was another week in which China dominated global shipbuilding orders: Hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts are said to be close to completion, and a number of orders were signed. Chinese shipyards are currently negotiating a USD 1 billion contract for environmentally friendly container ships, and a USD 760.8 million gas tanker order is also under discussion, as is an order for a methanol-powered VLCC oil tanker. China has also received other orders, including bulk carriers and an offshore gas platform. Japan received orders for bulk carriers. In Norway, plans are being made for zero-emission bulk carriers for copper transport, while a European shipyard plans to build and operate passenger ferries on its own account. In the naval sector, a European shipyard received an order worth EUR 158.6 million for two vessels.
