EDITORIAL NO 034 | 2023

Chinese shipyards continued to dominate global shipbuilding orders this week. Chinese orders include gas/ammonium carriers, liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, a VLCC oil tanker, other oil tankers, bulk carriers and product carriers. In addition, an order worth USD 480 million for ammonia dual-fuel bulk carrier is being negotiated in China. In South Korea, a European company has placed an order for a gas carrier worth USD 215 million. In the naval sector, an Asian Government has approved funds of around USD 240 million for the construction of five fleet support vessels. An Asian shipyard is planning a USD 1.5 billion capital increase for investment in shipbuilding.
