Chinese shipyards continued their domination of global shipbuilding orders this week. Chinese deals included a USD 1.3 billion European order for dual-fuel container ships. European customers also placed orders for environmentally friendly freighters and dual-fuel chemical carriers from China, while an Asian customer ordered car carriers. South Korea, however, received what is believed to be the highest-value contract ever for a single liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier. In the naval sector, the first orders for the construction of nuclear submarines for Australia are expected soon.
