The coronavirus crisis continued to depress global shipbuilding orders this week. South Korea won contracts for feeder container ships. Indonesia revealed plans to order oil and gas tankers. Singapore won offshore orders while multi-billion plans for a floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) newbuilding were revealed in Brazil. The naval sector was active with Germany approving the sale of a submarine to Egypt, a fisheries protection vessel was ordered in Denmark and Israel won an order for a patrol vessel. But there are fears a British naval support vessel newbuilding may be stopped as the coronavirus crisis causes changes to government spending priorities.
