EDITORIAL NO 023 | 2019

More passenger cruise ship orders were again seen this week, with contracts in Finland, Norway and China. Ferry deals were reported in Norway and Japan. The naval sector also remained busy, with Canada selecting the design for its new class of frigates while India agreed cooperation with Turkey for a major naval supply ship construction project. The Philippines is also in talks about patrol vessel newbuildings. China won orders for feeder container ships and tankers. South Korean orders remained quiet, while moves continued to move forward to complete the massive merger of Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding to create the largest shipyard in the world.
