The naval sector was active this week, with a US$950 million naval vessel contract signed by an Arabian yard. Another Middle Eastern yard won a major export order from Asia. A contract for naval supply vessels is close to being awarded by a European country. Yards are being sought to build an Antarctic patrol vessel. In the merchant shipbuilding sector, Chinese yards reported orders including bulk carriers and container ships. A US$162 million deal for environmentally friendly gas carriers was reported in South Korea.
