EDITORIAL NO 019 | 2020

Chinese yards won a stream of big orders this week, raising a glimmer of hope for a recovery in demand after the huge damage to the world economy from coronavirus. Multi-million dollar contracts were won by Chinese yards including for tankers and bulk carriers. Japan also won orders for product carriers. South Korea was closed for public holidays for most of this week. The naval sector also saw huge new orders placed this week, with billion dollar frigate orders in the United States and patrol vessels contracted in Australia.
