South Korean yards were this week reported to have won a billion dollar order for 8,000-TEU container ships with gas propulsion. Chinese yards were also reported to be in talks about building 8,000-TEU container ships. Japanese yards had a successful week, with deals for gas-powered car carriers, a bulker and container ships. A Dutch yard won a contract for tankers from a European customer. In the naval sector, a US$570 million order is believed to be on the way for South Korea from Asia.
