Major orders for container ships, tankers and bulk carriers worth US$970 billion were announced by a single yard in China this week. Other Chinese yards won orders including for container ships, bulk carriers and product tankers. In South Korea, orders worth over US$750 million were reported for tankers and gas carriers. Well-known yards in Asia and the United States were sold to new owners.
