China won a US$ 3.1 billion order to build 16 large container vessels for Europe this week, with environmentally friendly propulsion to be in focus for the ships. Chinese yards also won a series of other orders, including multi-purpose freighters, container feeder ships, and chemical tankers. It was another week with large contracts for liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers in South Korea, with deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars placed. Major naval vessel projects are also moving forward in Europe.
