A yard in India won an unusual order this week for container feeder ships capable of zero emission sailings. Chinese yards had an active week, winning another large contract for car carriers and also good business for product carriers. South Korean yards once again won a major contract for liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, with more gas carrier orders reported to be under negotiation. Plans to modernise an old passenger ferry fleet were reported in the United States. In the naval sector, the U.S. Marine Corps is asking for US$1.71 billion in extra funds to order an additional amphibious transport ship.
