EDITORIAL NO 009 | 2022

The general uncertainty in the world economy following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine delayed new investment decisions this week, depressing the overall number of merchant shipbuilding orders. Several deals for container ships of varying sizes were reported at Chinese yards, with environment-friendly designs again in focus. China also won orders for bulk carriers along with gas bunkering vessels for the North American market. South Korea also reported container ship orders. An unusual contract for zero-emission bulk carriers was placed in Europe.
