Bulk carriers and tankers were the main focus of newbuilding orders in China and South Korea this week. Another huge container ship order is seen to be close for South Korea. In Europe, specialist project cargo freighters were ordered while plans were revealed for a US$1.4 billion series of bulk carriers for Arctic sailings. The naval sector was active, with a 1.35 billion euro naval order awarded in Europe and hefty newbuilding deals reported in the United States.
