EDITORIAL NO 005 | 2023

This was another week with major business for liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other gas carriers. South Korea won a US$496.3 million contract for LNG carriers believed to be from a Japanese customer. A new concept of a gas carrier with green fuel system was ordered in Japan. South Korea also won a US$2.05 billion contract for 12 methanol-propelled container ships of 13,000 TEU from Europe and also a large product carrier deal from Africa. China’s business included orders for product carriers and bulkers. In the naval sector, a newbuilding plan for a range of ships was approved by a South American country.
